Big Business in Scotland

The Whisky industry is big business up in Scotland. In fact it accounts for upwards of 80% of its food and drink export.

Whisky is synonymous with Scotland and Scotch whisky is extremely popular the world over so it will come as little surprise to many.

For Scotland the whisky industry is not only a profitable esxport but also helps boost the economy due to the tourism it generates in places like Islay where there are 8 distillieries including the famous Bowmore distillery. With things like whisky festivals on the island it draws people from all over tyhe world who want to get exclusive access to find out exactly how their favourite whiskies are made.

The industry is going from strength to strength and we see the results on a global scale, just go into any supermarket in the world and you will find Scothch Whisky. Here in Australia we are proving to be huge fans of the export too.
